I really enjoyed Winter Break. I felt that I needed a vacation from school, and two weeks almost felt long enough this time. I do feel somewhat sad that the first semester went by so fast—that means junior year will be over in no time at all. I didn’t travel anywhere, but I spent lots of time with a visiting friend and with all my friends who live here, so I had a relaxing break. Now I’m waiting anxiously for spring break. The week before break was nice, too, since I didn’t have too many assessments, and ISM had an etiquette lunch. I liked that we went to Legacy West because I love walking around the shops there. Over break, I avoided thinking about school, but I did get started with a computational chemistry project so that I didn’t waste all my time. I began working on training a model on some relatively new datasets from TDCommons. I found it really interesting, especially since I got to use some new packages and try out Auto ML, but it certainly wasn’t easy. Of course, this means I’ll have more to discuss with my mentor, and I have plenty of time to improve the model’s performance. Now that school is back, I’m looking forward to coming back to ISM—it’s great having a class where I choose what to study.
