Last week, I continued to further my original work and prepared my design plan for my research showcase display board. I also met up with my mentor, and we discussed not only what improvements I could make to my original work website to make it more accessible to a layperson, but also what I could potentially do as a final product. He introduced me to Therapeutics Data Commons, a relatively recent repository of datasets and tasks with built-in processing tools. Some of these datasets I have already seen in DeepChem, but some are new, and this presents a good opportunity for me to learn because there aren’t many strategies already on the leaderboard, as it's a recent publication. At the least, it’ll be something that can keep me busy over Winter Break. It feels like there’s a lot of work that’s due before we get there, but I’m happy that I’m nearing completion of my original work. I was originally a little disappointed that I wouldn’t be trying to maximize or compare performance on a dataset, but I feel that using a website as a medium helps me more because explaining something to others helps cement my own understanding. I’m excited to prepare for everything upcoming in ISM!
