Over the last two weeks, I completed research on my original work and worked on my product.
I also tried to enjoy my Thanksgiving break, although it was kind of hectic. I had a lot of things to do, from reading Crime and Punishment to finishing the last chapter of my Calculus III textbook. At the same time, I was recovering from having my wisdom teeth removed. In the middle of the break, I worked on copyediting the manuscript that has now gone to the production phase, and I’m looking forward to seeing it appear online in the coming week(s). Thankfully, I also got to catch up on my sleep over the break.
In terms of my original work, I may not be able to automate my vision for validating ML model explanations to the same degree I intended in my proposal. However, I still plan on at least publishing a background and instructions for the same methods so that users can understand the process required, as I discussed on my last mentor visit. This year, I have a much better idea of how important it is to explain these models and not simply rely on accuracy metrics.
Coming up, I will be completing my original work, along with the many other bits of homework and projects I have to do. Just four weeks until winter break, and then it’ll be second semester!
